- Brainstorm regularly
- Write, Write, Write
Write a list. Brainstorm. Write down everything you want to include in your post
Start with your working title. I find “How-to” and “X Tips..” posts irresistible
Pick a catchy title. Attractive and see if you can optimize it for SEO. Also, try to make it as short as possible
Hook Them With The First Sentence. Write an intro and make it captivating. Use a thought-provoking question, statistics or a story to catch your readers´ attention
Experiment with different styles of writing
Make Every Word, Phrase & Sentence Count. Use Simple, Yet Precise, Words
Shorten Your Sentences when possible
Use Pop Culture References
End With A Punchy Conclusion. You can either end with a thought-provoking question or a call-to-action
Before you publish ask what you want your reader to do after reading your post and edit accordingly
Put aside time to proofread and edit your posts.
Publish selectively. No need to publish everything you write
Give it time
You’ll never please everyone so trust your instincts and keep on practising!
Biggest lesson I learned in my past year of blogging. Keep it in the 1–2 minutes read-time length.
Again, you will NEVER PLEASE EVERYONE so get to work!
